Weekly Finds: Neutralized Neon

To me, nothing makes an outfit more exciting than a pop of color or two (or three, or four). I’m also a big fan of decking out myself in brights from head-to-toe. Unfortunately, many would-be Fashionistas shy away from anything other than standard neutrals. But thanks to the current heat wave sweeping the nation, these usually-practical colors are anything but; it’s way too hot to wear anything black, while a light-colored ensemble will reveal all those embarrassing sweat stains. Luckily, there’s an option for those who want to make a statement and beat the heat without stepping outside of their comfort zones. Meet the new neon: at first glance, these colors look more appropriate for would-be hipsters at a music festival, not for a summer class or in the internship office. But when paired with a neutral (think light, airy tans and nudes) base or accent piece, these colors add a dose of trendiness to an otherwise boring outfit. Pair my neon picks with a neutral shift dress, flirty blouse, maxi skirt or classic pumps for an outfit that screams “look at me” in all the right ways.
